12:06 pm - Spring is HERE!
It's a sunny, warm spring day - I Love Spring!
Hmmmm, things that have happened since I updated in Feb:
  • Dave and I celebrated our 5th Anniversary in March.
  • We bought a new bed - I love it.
  • We had to get rid of Riley - He was very annoying and even with training he was getting into trouble on a daily basis, so we weren't too saddened to see him go. He'll be happier and so will we.
  • We've started attending at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, and have felt very welcomed and comfortable there.
  • We're planning to go see Wicked in Denver for Dave and Susan's Birthdays in May.
  • We're also planning to go down to Durrango for a Day Out with Thomas in June for Anthony's Birthday again.
  • I'm playing World of Warcraft , and am in The Phoenix Order which is a Light RP guild on the server. Really, they're a fantastic group of people that I look forward to getting to know.
  • I'm also playing in Dave's on-line D&D game. Its kinda slow starting, but I'm hoping that as we go along.
Yeah, I know, not a lot - but at least its something, right.

4:35 pm - Kissies to all who love Barbarians!

OMG! You're not going to believe this, but this last weekend my darling husband suggested that I take advantage of the double xp weekend that they (Verant) were doing for EQ. I was bored (not having been able to really get involved with WoW, EQ2, or FFXI yet) and decided to log in for a bit and see what damage I could do. Well, no only did I get 7AA over the weekend, but I was greeted by armfuls of hugs and kisses from old friends. So, after a lot of thinking, and with the understanding that I'm not going to be giving the game 3-4 hours per day every day of my time anymore, I have come back to EQ! I'm a lvl 65 Barbie Shaman with 1 AA away from CanV. I've just yesterday joined a guild (having been removed from Whit`s End in my absence) of laid back, friendly people known as The Edgers, and I'm looking forward to spending Wednesday nights raiding with them. From what I've experienced with them so far, I like their personalities. And the smoothness with which the raid was run was pleasantly refreshing.

I'm getting out more and making friends here finally. I've been sticking to Dave and Anthony as my contact with other people for the last 18 months, and that just isn't healthy. I got along with my co-workers well enough, but it wasn't anything that would transcend being together at work to getting together socially. I just wish this God Damned cold weather would go away so that I could go out hiking again; I really don't like being cold. Next Saturday I'm getting together with some girls at Bijou Bar & Grill for a friend's Birthday. There might be more before also, but nothing specifically planned.

3:42 pm - Happy New Year
Happy Holidays!

This has been a wonderful year; I'm quite pleased with how things in our lives are progressing.

Dave's job with MCI becomes more stable as time goes by and he demonstrates his flawless ability to get things done quickly, correctly, and with grace and ease. MCI will be merging under Verizon in Jan, and Dave has already been assured that his position will continue with him in it. Dave and I have been a couple for 7 years, and every day that goes by I find myself more in love with him. When he is near the harshness of life just washes away and I'm standing along a salty sandy shore with the cool breeze lilts tenderly through my hair, cooling my skin and warms me inside. The sweet scent of honeysuckle drifts through the air, and I can sense that somehow everything will be all right. Our love is a committed love (not the mental institution type) continuing regardless of the quarrels or cuts that we occasionally have. I think about him often; when he's not with me I miss him and look forward to when he will be with me again. The honesty, caring, and closeness that we share could never be the same with anyone else ever. To put it plainly; I love him.

I have been office-temping for most of the year, but it really isn't the type of work I prefer, so I will be submitting my Financial Aid info, and then register for classes with PPCC. I'm losing weight slowly and steadily with my regular working out and low calorie diet. I've lost a total of 22 pounds since I really started in October. I've been doing a good bit of research lately as I want to better my discipline and follow through, set goals and time schedules for myself, and figure out finally what it is that I want to be when I grow up.

I'm also looking up plants and ideas for Rocky Mountain Xeriscaping; I want to xeriscape our lawns for a few reasons; I want it to be less costly, less water consuming, and still look nice in the front and back. Plus I have two dogs and a little boy who love to run around in he back and dig up the yard, so I need a space where they can do that without turning the grassy lawn into a bare patch of dirt. The only problem is that when I close my eyes I can't envision what I want in my mind. I need the help of someone else, but I also don't have very much at all to spend on this project. So, it will either have to be minimal landscaping or a long drawn out process. I'm not adverse to it taking longer so long as it looks good after all the work.

Anthony is in full potty training mode; he spends most of the day having nakkie time lately since that's when he is more cognizant of his potty needs. When he has a pull-up or even underwear on he doesn't catch it in time to run and go potty. He's getting really good at counting (can count to 12 regularly), and can say the alphabet along with you. His fridge letters have been a good tool for phonics, and he gets 7 out of 10 colors and shapes. He's quite a bright little kid, and still enjoys reading 2-3 books a day.

He absolutely made out this Solstice getting over 20 new trains for his Thomas & Friends play (the big plastic ones and the smaller wooden ones), and 3 new adventure sets to add to his tracks which now combined can cover the floor of a 12x9 room with some to spare. He got the Talking Scrambler (his 1st remote control car), a stuffed dinosaur (T-Rex), a stuffed crocodile (Snappy), and a stuffed Nemo to go along with the Finding Nemo DVD that he recently fell in love with. He now has two soccer balls - a mini ball for inside and a sz 4 white Nike ball for outside. He has deep drum that also holds a tambourine, a recorder, a pair of maracas, a kazoo, and the drum sticks for the drum; he loves the maracas and the drum sticks especially. He got a bunch of DVDs - Thomas mostly, but also Madagascar and Polar Express. He also got some clothes and accessories. He most certainly had a Merry Solstice.

Well, that's enough for now. I'm gonna go work on my character for Dave's D&D campaign so I can actually play, and then probably do more housework. Have a safe, successful, passionate, happy, glowing, special New Year!

11:49 am - More Numerology Insight
Lisa, your Soul Urge of 1 ...

What You Desire To Be, To Have, and To Do In Your Life

Your soul urge is to be the best at everything that you do. You play to win and when you don't win you suffer a serious crisis of faith. As you believe you are directly connected to a higher power you just can't bear it when you let yourself and others down. It makes you think that there is no God.

One of your greatest challenges is to put your life in perspective. Most ones are born into lives that encourage their personal development and in particular the expression of their free will. However it is often this sense of entitlement, that the world must always be your oyster that leads to your downfall.

You may see your pride as being evidence of your high self-esteem and confidence. However sometimes your ambition and drive is so extreme that it disgusts and angers others who may perceive you as selfish and controlling. In ancient cultures flaunting your talents and wealth was thought to attract "the evil eye." In your case the evil eye is often others desire to see your pride crushed or watch you take a big fall off your pedestal.

You on the other hand don't understand why others can't see that you are special. Many number ones suffer from a bad case of terminal uniqueness. You love things that are one of a kind and will resort to extreme or even outrageous behavior to prove that you are irreplaceable.

In your universe you are the sun and everything and everybody else rotates around you. Many number ones sabotage their careers in the early stages, as they cannot get past the idea that someone else might know more or be better than them. Ones that feel dominated may resort to overtly rebelling against authority and cause chaos.

Your eagerness to be recognized for your talents sometimes turns you into a braggart. This often incurs the wrath of others, as it seems that you really are concerned with taking care of number one and nobody else. One of your soul lessons might be to recognize that "to rule is truly to serve."

If your talents are not appreciated or recognized by others you may steal the spotlight by creating unnecessary dramas in your life. This is because in your mind even negative attention than no attention at all.

If you feel you are a failure you also risk the temptation of escaping into addiction or fantasy. You may get involved in troubling situations with emotionally disturbed people so that you can feel like the hero by rescuing them.

The conflict that you face is the age-old battle between your will and what fate has to offer. When bad things happen to number ones they tend to give up entirely. This is part of a damaging all or nothing mentality. This type of attitude often puts you in situations that are humiliating as you often persist out of pure stubbornness even though all signs point to eventual failure.

To be successful you need to temper your soul urges with patience and tact. You need to learn to see other people's point of view and let others win an argument once in a while. You are in such a hurry to succeed that you often make hasty decisions that you regret later. Acting on impulse is definitely a hazard for you on your life path. Rather than listen to your ego, listen to you higher self as well.

11:45 am - My Numerology-self (my Name)
Lisa, your Expression of 5 ...
Your Potential Natural Talents and Abilities

You are optimistic, inquisitive and embrace change. You are a freedom-loving individual who expresses their love of independence often through a bohemian or unusual life style. You are blessed with a brilliant creative mind that is never at a loss for a solution to a problem.

As your independence is so important to you, you thrive best in creative occupations that allow you a great deal of travel. You have an eye for design and appreciate the good things in life. In fact, you may spend a lot of your time trying to figure out how to get these things without having to work too hard.

If you are a typical five then you will meet with the most success by selling some aspect of yourself or your talent. The height of your personal expression is in your talent for persuasion. This is why you are best suited for jobs in media, marketing and design.

You very much believe that a person is defined by what he does and not what he wants to do so any business or project that you start will be very much branded with your personal flair. It is a number 5 that tends to name a business after himself or send out a resume with a photo.

When it comes to business you also tend to have a "hands on" approach as you rely a lot on your wit, charm and good looks to get what you want. Once the deal is sealed, however, you sometimes have difficulty seeing it through to completion. This is because your brilliant mind is captured by so many other interests that it is difficult for you to focus sometimes.

Sometimes your need to express your independence brings you to a critical point in both your professional and personal relationships. You are terrified of being stuck in one place or having your free spirit suffocated by labels and possessiveness. For this reason many of you feel quite suffocated in relationships or are unable to hold down a day job for any length of time.

You are very popular socially because you are the life of every party. You have light nimble mind and have excellent verbal skills. You also have enormous powers of analysis that gives you an edge when it comes to investing money, judging others and avoiding harmful situations.

You are also very accepting of new people and new ideas. The last thing that could ever be said of you is that you are closed minded. You will try anything once and you often respond willingly to a dare. However, sometimes your permissiveness leads to relationships with odd or unstable individuals.

Romantically others may find you hard to get close to as you would rather sit and chat than get intimate. Others fail to understand that the most valued expression of your love is the expression of your hopes and dreams to another.

You are also very pragmatic when it comes to all of your relationships and believe in treating everyone equally. Deep down you are very philosophical about relationships and believe that no person should be so important that he or she should have the power to make you happy or sad. This can often distress your soul mate who doesn't feel that special in your presence. Part of your challenge might be showing through your actions, how loving all without sacrificing one can be achieved.

current mood: giddy

11:39 am - my Numerology-self
Forst my BirthDate

Lisa, your Life Path of 5 ...

You are about freedom, independence and the right to follow where your heart and gut-instincts lead you in life. You are an inquisitive soul with many questions that can only be answered through travel, exploration and experiencing a variety of life situations. For this reason you are likely to relocate to various cities or countries during your life and also entertain a number of life partners as opposed to just one soul mate.

You are best suited to freelance work or being your own boss as stuffy offices and rigid routines are deadly to your imagination and soul. You are a great lover of human nature as well as one of it's greatest observers, which is why you would make a good archaeologist, historian, writer, journalist, reporter or artist.

You are great at dealing with people and also do well in any "front line" occupation. For instance many crisis workers, emergency care workers and leaders of self- groups are fives. You need a job that allows you to meet a lot of people as well as brings you a variety of interesting experiences.

You also have quite a spiritual bent to your personality that may send you on many personal vision quests. It is not unusual for a 5 to also belong to many different religions during his or her life or suddenly in mid-life to drop everything in pursuit of a life-style that is the complete opposite of the former one.

One of your challenges is learning how to not waste time. Your perception of time is somewhat distorted which is why you are often late to meetings or sometimes unable to meet deadlines. Novelties and new ideas also easily distract you so sometimes it is difficult for you to choose a career or lifestyle and stick with it. As a result, others may also find you indecisive and frustrating to deal with.

Another challenge that you face on your life path is being overly irresponsible. Many 5's have a habit of taking off when the going gets rough. You tend be quite casual about your relationships and have a great deal of trouble managing any type of emotional crisis. You may even experience panic at the idea of commitment, as you don't like the idea of being responsible to another person. For this reason, many of you have a number of serial relationships rather than just one life long love.

If you are unable to physically escape circumstances that you can't emotionally handle or don't like, you are also prone to escaping through substance abuse. This is part of the unpleasant self-indulgent trait that is part of many number 5 personalities.

Finding one focus and sticking with it is definitely your biggest life challenge. Most 5's are multitalented but they never stay in one place long enough for one of their projects to grow and blossom. Seeing things through to completion is the best way to make sure that you don't suffer poverty or bitterness in your later years.

One of your greatest talents is the ability to communicate, either verbally or through the written word. Your expansive observations of life plus your ability to see all points of view makes you an excellent teacher. Most 5's end up teaching at one point in their life so others can benefit from the rich tapestry of their life experience.

You are also a daring spirit that has a love of adventure. You are usually very physically fit and enjoy good health for your entire life if you stay away from overindulging in drink and food.

5:15 pm - I am Too Cool
Joe Normal
43 % Nerd, 17% Geek, 8% Dork
For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored less than half in all three, earning you the title of: Joe Normal.

This is not to say that you don't have some Nerd, Geek or Dork inside of you--we all do, and you can see the percentages you have right above. This is just to say that none of those qualities stand out so much as to define you. Sure, you enjoy an episode of Star Trek now and again, and yeah, you kinda enjoyed a few classes back in the day. And, once in a while, you stumble while walking down the street even though there was nothing there to cause you to trip. But, for the most part, you look and act fairly typically, and aren't much of an outcast.

I'd say there's a fair chance someone asked you to take this test. In any event, fairly normal.

Congratulations!

If you enjoyed this test, I would love the feedback!

12:56 pm - To be continued...
When last we met I spoke about my new job with CSU Pueblo, our new house, and my sister who has come to live with us. Since that time we have been doing a bit of adjusting to the new schedule, to our new enviroment, and each other. We're still looking at a very tight budget, but as each week goes by it becomes looser and looser. Anthony is still at home with Susan this week, but will start daycare either next Monday or the following (depending on how slow I am at letting go)week.

I'm still enjoying this place; its great to be surrounded by so many intelligent people everyday. I'm only a little nervous about going permanent. I've been recieving great feedback from Pam and John, but I'm still going to keep honing my organizational and office skills. I want to be the only option they even think about when the time comes to decide.

.....gonna have to finish this tonight....at least that supposedly when Adelphia will have us reconnected.

5:11 pm - Job, Susan, and Society
Ok, so I have been told (by my darling not-so-little sister) that I need to update my journal. Of course, she’s absolutely right; I certainly do need to keep this updated so that all my friends and family can keep up with everything that’s happening.

I’ll start by telling you that I am now employed with Express Personnel working at CSU Pueblo Continuing Education Extension in Colorado Springs. I work in the administration department registering students, creating instructor files, and other such administrative duties. The Express thing is a temporary deal for the first 13 weeks; after which I will take a test and go through the official hiring process with CSU. So, with Rule 3 in place, I am employed again!

Unfortunately, it all happened so fast that I still need to get Anthony into the Dr.'s office for a physical and any shots that he might need so that I can place him in daycare. Until then, Susan has very kindly agreed to care for him while we are working. I know she has her own goals though, so I want to get Anthony into child care ASAP so she can go about planning and meeting said goals.

I’m so grateful to have Susan living here now; not just for the free child care either. Having her here has relieved some of my loneliness; I now have someone to talk to, go out with, and even go to the gym with. She’s very generous with her time, and she and Anthony get along so incredibly well. Dave thinks its because we’re sisters and we look so much alike that Anthony feels so at ease with her. He’s probably right although I also think he remembers her from our trip to Florida last October.

Dave’s supervisor says that this whole “missing my son” thing will fade after a few weeks. As it is, I think about him every 5 minutes, and I’ve got pictures of him (and Dave too) inside the coffee cup that I got from Starbucks. It doesn’t help that Larry (one of the “been here longer than everyone else combined” work studies) has just become a foster parent to a 17 yr old girl who has two children (2 and 1) and needed to bring them in for a few moments so she could fill out some paperwork. I really had to force myself to keep working and not print out some coloring pages for the kids and even get some toys from the car so that the children have something to do while their mother sorted out her life a bit.

That whole situation has been stirring around in my head all afternoon; she’s 17, she had her first child when she was 14. Her parents are both in jail, and have been since she was 13. She’s been in and out of FIVE foster homes. Larry is her last chance; if she doesn’t straighten up and get a job within the next 30 days, and get her GED by November then her children will be taken from her and be taken in by Larry who will then foster them until he can adopt them.

It just breaks my heart to know that she’s just part of an ever increasing cycle of poor choices and hopelessness.

I think that if the time ever comes that we’re free and clear of all our debt, and are at a point where we could support another person, I want to look into the logistics of becoming a foster parent.

Oh, and PrideFest 2005 was a wonderful success, and I am extremely glad to have been able to volunteer for that. It’s so very important (especially in a town as conservative as Colorado Springs) to get the word out that we are all citizens of this country and as such should be equal under the law; including marriage laws.

Don’t have much time left before I have to go, so I’ll end it here with a promise to update this on a weekly basis. This will give me a place to vent work issues if/when they come up.

I still miss my son!…even the stinky diapers and stubborn picky eating part of him.

9:17 am - Short hair is so cool! Literally!
I'm feeling pretty good today; I lost another 2 pounds this week (even though I didn't get to work out the last three days), my sister is out of mom's house and is happily embracing Colorado Springs as well as her independence, we got the lease for the house (we may be able to do a Rent to Own deal after two years), Dave's been told for sure that his position at MCI will be turned into a permanent one just as soon as his contract is up, and even though I haven't heard back from my interview yet, it was a good interview, and I'm more confident in my abilities to do my job still. Even if I don't get this position, I'll get one soon enough, and it'll be one I can be happy at; if it's good enough, I could just stay there indefinately.

We spent the evening of the 4th of July in Memorial Park in Colorado Springs, listening to the Co Springs Symphony playing "traditional" 4th music - Sousa marches, some Big Band classics (pretty good vocalist, although "New York New York" didn't work for her), and of course the 1812 Overture. How a 125-year-old piece of classical music depicting an early 19th-century war between France and Russia became an American 4th of July classic is a bit beyond me, but I love the piece, so any reason is a good reason. And the fireworks were great, framed against the mountians, with the occasional firework from God (heat lightning) to add to the mix.

As promised, here are some pictures from our trip to Durrango for Anthony's 2nd Birthday.

Colorado Springs Pride Fest is next Sunday, and I'm going to be volunteering at the bounce house from 10-2p. I'll be sure to bring the camera and take pics.

See ya around!
